Lagavulin Single Malt
I’m not a whisky expert, but this one is my favourite and since I always forget the name, especially after some beers… I blog it
Lagavulin Single Malt – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lagavulin Single Malt is a scotch whisky, one of three distilled on the south half of the Scottish Island of Islay. It is characterised by its strong peat flavour and iodine overtones. The iodine flavour tends to divide tasters into love it or hate it groups with no middle ground, and it may not be suitable for new Scotch drinkers. Among the three distilleries in the area (see below for list) it is the least peaty. The standard Lagavulin single malt is 16 years old (43%), though they have also released a 12 year old cask strength variety, Distiller’s edition, finished in Pedro-Ximenez casks as well as a 25 year old variety.
Lagavulin is produced by White Horse Distillers which is owned by United Distillers & Vintners which in turn is owned by Diageo plc. Lagavulin was chosen to represent Islay Single Malts in UDV’s Classic Malts of Scotland.
It is pronounced “La-ga-VOO-lin”.
